There are many reasons why people look to change careers, these reasons could be dissatisfied in their current role, others by personal growth or changes in their life circumstances.
We encourage all clients who are considering a career change to continue in their current role and do their research alongside their current role. However, we do have clients who find their job is having adverse effects on their health and they decide to leave with no job to go to. It is not something we encourage; however, some clients cannot stand their job for a whole variety of reasons and just leave and we always respect their decision as it is a personal choice. We then support them on their career pivot journey back into employment.
These are some of the main reasons / motivations why clients come to Stirling Careers Consultancy and wanting to change career:

Unfortunately, many organisations are making people redundant or maybe doing so soon.
Do you think your organisation is likely to be one of them?
If so, now is the time to put a plan in place.
What signs should you look for?
Less work
There is less work to go around.
New Management / Leadership or Change Leadership
A new management and leadership team will want to make changes. They will want to inspire and guide the organization through a period of adaptation and change often involving a new vision, values, and strategies. You need to assess how you will fit in with this new management.
Re-organisation
This can involve combining roles, changing job responsibilities or removing positions to improve efficiency, reduce costs or adapting to changing market conditions.
Hiring Freeze or Reduced Hiring Plans
This is when an organisation stops hiring new employees. It is usually a temporary hold on recruitment. It can include freezing any new positions and not replacing any employees leaving the organisation.
A hiring freeze can be a full freeze, (no hiring at all) a partial freeze (usually no new positions but business essential roles will be filled) or department specific.
How long a hiring freeze lasts will depend on the reasons behind it.
Earnings Reports
These offer a snapshot of the company‘s current financial health.
Debt and Cash Flow Issues
Cash flow problems occur when a business does not have enough cash to cover its liabilities. With cash outflows, businesses may struggle to pay debts and other expenses.
More frequent meetings/ communications from the leadership team.
Do any of these signs apply to you in your organisation?
If so, your job could be in danger.
What should you do now?

I am currently working with some clients who are currently suffering with stress or unhappy in their working life. The first instance I always encourage new clients to talk to their GP. Having spoken with their GP many are referred to counselling and they work together to put strategies in place to help them overcome or manage their stress.
Their stress could be caused by some of the following:
High Workload
Too much work load and very tight deadlines can lead to stress and a lack of control and support.
Inadequate Resources
You have insufficient resources such as outdated equipment, lack of training, or inadequate support. This can make it difficult for you to perform your tasks effectively, leading to frustration and stress.
Lack of control
Sometimes when we are micromanaged, we are not able to make decisions it can have a detrimental impact on our health.
Organisational culture
You are in an unsupportive organisational culture, where there is a lack of communication, trust or focus on blame rather than trying to solve the problem.
Lack of Recognition and Reward
I have many clients who come to see Stirling Careers Consultancy who feel their line manager does not show any interest in them or their work. This often results in employees feeling demotivated.
Alternatively, if the role is not right for you, we help you exit the organisation, sometimes this may involve taking legal advice, and helping you to find a more suitable role. Also, we offer psychometric assessments where clients complete a set of online assessments which will then recommend 12/13 careers related to your strengths.
These are just some of the reasons why clients have come to us and we work alongside the medical profession. We focus on helping the client to decide whether they want to continue in their current role, if they decide to stay in their current role we help them negotiate with their employer reasonable adjustments.
We offer all new clients a Free 20 minutes telephone consultation to understand your current circumstances and explain how we can help you move forward and explore your career goals.
